Religions for Peace USA Executive Council met on November 11, 2019 in Washington, DC at the Religious Action Center for Reform Judaism, courtesy of Rabbi Jonah Pesner.
Over 20 member organizations of RFPUSA participated in the meeting. A significant portion of the meeting was devoted to the development of an immigration and refugee statement from a faith-lens that our member communities could work on together as a focus for RFPUSA moving forward. Please stay tuned to the next e-newsletter for more details on this initiative.
During lunch we were joined by Ms. Kristen Evans, Director of Center for Faith and Opportunity Initiatives at USAID. She shared her thoughts and resources on how religious organizations could partner with her office.
The meeting was held in the historic conference room – where the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 were drafted by the leaders of the Civil Rights Movement. The plaque marking this history is shown to the left.
